BSF Seizes Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICNs) worth Rs 1.6 lakh

The BSF, upon receiving information that fake Indian currency notes (FICNs) were being smuggled from Bangladesh through border outposts Rajai and Gumaghat in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, launched an operation and apprehended a Bangladesh national – Bhola Sangma (68) – about 200 metres from the international border. On search of the apprehended person, the BSF recovered 53 FICNs of Rs 2,000 denomination having a face value of Rs 1,06,000. The apprehended person had wrapped the FICN in a polythene and concealed it in his innerwear.
On preliminary questioning, the person revealed that FICNs were handed over to him by Insan Ali in Bangladesh and he was to deliver the same to an Indian national. The apprehended person along with FICNs were handed over to Ranikor police station, South West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, for further legal action. It is likely that during interrogation, more names will come up who are involved in the FICN racket.
